Summer
As with our winter programme, we have carefully chosen our base to ensure the surrounding area has something to offer everyone. From those who just want to flop on a sandy beach with a book, or swim in one of the many rocky coves, to golf-lovers and watersports fiends, to those who simply wish to enjoy the superb regional gastronomy and just relax with a few nice drops from the many local vineyards…This is one of the most attractive and varied regions in France. From the glamour and glitz of St Tropez with its chic boutiques and superyachts to lovely Port Grimaud (our own little Venice!), picturesque hilltop villages like Gassin and pretty seaside towns like St Maxime with its many restaurants, bars and evening craft markets.
For watersports fans the possibilities are almost endless. Sailing and motor boats are available to hire, and there are many waterskiing, parasailing, jet-skiing, diving and windsurfing centres. St Aygulf’s main beach is a Mecca for kitesurfers who come for its perfect mix of shallow water and strong breezes.
For those who enjoy a less high-octane holiday, numerous vineyards can be found inland, all keen for you to ‘try and buy’ their product. For a noisier day out, the large water-park, Aqualand, is 15 minutes down the road. About 1.5 hours drive away you will find the splendid Gorges du Verdon, the great canyons of Europe.
Golfers are well-catered for too, with 10 superior courses within reach (2 excellent courses within 20 minutes). The local tourist authority also operates a scheme whereby one can enjoy rounds at different courses for reduced fees.
Whatever the ingredients for your perfect summer break, we really believe that you’ll find them in this region, and that Villa Bois de Chênes is the ideal base to mix them.
