Villa Bois de Chênes

Following the success of Exceptional Ski’s second season in Courchevel 1850, we are delighted to introduce our Exceptional Summer and Exceptional Golf programmes, based in the beautiful Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region of southern France.

As with our winter programme, we have carefully chosen our base to ensure the surrounding area has something to offer everyone - from those who just want to flop on a sandy beach with a book, or swim in one of the many rocky coves, to golf-lovers and watersports fiends to those who simply wish to enjoy the superb regional gastronomy and just relax with a nice drop from one of the many local vineyards…

The base for your holiday is the very well-appointed Villa Bois de Chenes, complete with private swimming pool, which is available to rent from mid-May until the end of October.

Set back from the main coast road from Fréjus to St Tropez approximately 3km from St Aygulf, this is the perfect spot to relax on your summer break, away from the hurly-burly of the larger towns, while being a 15-minute (1km) walk from the nearest beaches. The property itself is set in a natural dip, affording a high level of privacy and a feeling of seclusion, which is not apparent from the large number of villas visible from the main road.

Bois de Chenes comfortably sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms (two doubles, two twins and a good-sized bunkroom). There are three bathrooms and a separate WC on the ground floor. The property is tiled throughout.

It features a fully-fitted kitchen with 4-hob oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is also a washing machine for guests’ use. The living / dining area has a large table which seats ten, sofa and armchairs. Satellite TV (BBC available), DVD with free library and CD hifi.

French doors lead from this area to the large, covered Provençaltiled patio overlooking the pool. There is also a built in BBQ with food preparation area, and a drinks fridge with freezer section.

The good-sized 10m x 5m, L-shaped swimming pool (1m-2.5m deep) is surrounded by a paved area, complete with large parasols and sun-loungers to relax on after a dip. The pool is fenced and fully complies with French child-safety legal requirements.

Away from the villa, this is one of the most attractive and varied regions in France. From the glamour and glitz of St Tropez with its chic boutiques, superyachts and famous Pampelonne beach, to lovely Port Grimaud (our own little Venice!), picturesque hilltop villages such as Plan de la Tour, and Gassin and pretty seaside towns like St Maxime with its many restaurants and bars, as well as evening craft markets.

For watersports enthusiasts the possibilities are almost endless. Dinghies, Hobie Cats and motor boats are available to hire, as well as professional waterskiing, parasailing, jet-skiing, diving and windsurfing centres. St Aygulf’s main beach is a Mecca for kitesurfers who come from all over Europe for the perfect mix of shallow water and strong breezes.

For those who enjoy a less high-octane holiday, numerous vineyards can also be found inland, all keen for you to try and then buy their produce, as well as the large Lac de St Cassien, where pedalos and kayaks can be hired – a great spot for a picnic. For a noisier day out, the large water-park, Aqualand, is 15 minutes down the road. About 1.5 hours drive away you will find the splendid Gorges du Verdon, the great canyons of Europe.

Golfers are very well-catered for too, with 10 superior courses within a 45 minute drive (2 excellent courses within 15 minutes), including the famous Royal Mougins in Cannes. The local tourist authority also operates a discount scheme whereby one can enjoy rounds at several different courses at reduced green fees.

Whatever the ingredients for your perfect summer break, we really believe that you’ll find them in this region, and that Villa Bois de Chênes is the ideal base to mix them.
