5* Hotel Le Manali
Certainly the finest hotel in Courchevel Moriond (1650), the Manali sits majestically at the foot of the nursery slopes and offers superb views of the slopes, mountains and Bozel valley.
There is a definite recurring theme throughout the public areas, with subtle oriental flourishes (and some not so subtle in the shape of the two huge elephants which guard the terrace entrance!) everywhere.
Just for variety, each elegantly-furnished room and suite (including specially-designed family accommodation) follows three distinctive designs – Indian, Canadian Rockies and Swiss Chalet. Think silk fabrics and figurines, faux wolf fur and warm wood panelling! All very imaginative and beautifully done.
For relaxation after a hard day on the slopes, in addition to the splendid sun terrace which catches the last rays in resort, there is a lovely bar/lounge with open fire, plus the first floor ‘Kullu Mountain Club’ with bar, pool table and big-screen sports. For younger guests there is a dedicated Children's Chalet with toys, games, video consoles and organised activities.
For even more relaxation there is the superb Mahayana Spa with great pool, sauna, Hammam, gym, and a bewildering array of massages and treatments from around the world.
Add to all this Christian Salin’s inventive cuisine (served either in the hotel’s stylish, carved pannelled restaurant or on the huge sundeck); the Manali’s excellent ski-in/ski-out location while being just a couple of minutes’ walk from Courchevel 1650’s many shops and bars; the friendly and welcoming staff and the all-round feel of unstuffy luxury and you have a real treat. Faultless on every level.
