Hotel Le Fitz Roy

Despite being known as Courchevel specialists, we felt it would be useful to feature this super 4* hotel which is to be found in the heart of Val Thorens at the furthest end of the vast Three Valleys linked ski area.

For skiers who prefer long sunny days towards the end of the traditional winter season this has long-been a favoured destination, and situated at 2300m altitude the Fitzroy is the highest four-star hotel in Europe. Val Thorens’ enviable snow-record (as well as fantastic skiing terrain, from the summit of the 3300m Cime de Caron downwards) is its appeal and, as everyone who has skied the 3 Valleys knows, perfect conditions can be found here well into April.

The hotel itself has benefited from extensive refurbishment over the past couple of years and is a lovely place, with individually decorated rooms (including split-level family rooms, and a magnificent Prestige suite with open-fire). The restaurant is light and airy while the cosy bar with open fireplace and large south-facing terrace (if weather permits!) - is perfect for après-ski drinks.

For additional relaxation after a long day on the mountain, the hotel has a lovely pool together with sauna and Hammam steam room. Numerous treatments are also available including massages and various specialist therapies involving seaweed wraps and the like!

Certainly the best hotel in Val Thorens, the Fitzroy offers proper ski-in/ski-out convenience and its friendly staff and excellent cuisine, facilities, value and location combine perfectly to make this hotel well worth considering if planning a Spring ski break. And indeed at any time of year for anyone looking for an alternative to Courchevel or Meribel, and the ability to ski straight out of the door into the huge expanse of the Val Thorens valley and beyond.
