Ideally situated on the Bellecote piste for those who enjoy
true ski-in/ski-out style, holidaymakers in our opinion
too-often overlook the Courcheneige. Everyone who lives and works in Courchevel 1850 knows about
its fabulously cosy bar area with roaring fire and very friendly
staff – just perfect for a vin chaud after a day in
the cold. On sunny days the huge south-facing terrace is a
great spot for lunch, or just to have a drink and admire the
splendid panorama of the Aiguille de Fruit and the Vanoise
mountain range beyond.
The 83 bedrooms and suites are all tastefully and traditionally
decorated with private balconies overlooking the mountains
or valley.
The hotel also has a fitness centre with gym, sauna and Jacuzzi,
Hammam and sunbeds. There is also a well-stocked in-house
ski hire shop.
While it should be said that the hotel is a fair walk from
the centre, there is a hotel courtesy shuttle operating throughout
the day and evening, enabling guests to enjoy Courchevel’s
lively après-ski scene before supper.
Without a detailed knowledge of the French hotel-grading
system it is impossible to see how this super place merits
just two stars, but there you have it. Perfect for those seeking
a quieter spot, it offers fantastic value, great food, slopeside
location and a friendly welcome. The distance from town (20
minute walk) is a very fair trade off for everything else
that the hotel has going for it. |
